Welcome to the current edition of Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning EE606.

Welcome to the course web page of EE 606 (PRML) @ IIT Dharwad

This course will deal with Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning from both a theoretical and a practical perspective. Pattern Recognition involves identifying and categorizing patterns within data, encompassing fields like image and speech recognition. On the other hand, Machine Learning is a subset of artificial intelligence focused on developing algorithms that allow computers to learn from data and make predictions or decisions without explicit programming. These two domains are intricately connected, with Machine Learning often employed in Pattern Recognition to enhance its capabilities and enable adaptive learning. The synergy between Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning plays a pivotal role in various applications, ranging from computer vision and medical diagnosis to recommendation systems and predictive analytics, contributing significantly to the advancement of intelligent systems through continuous learning and adaptation.
