Ancestral Birds

I use the term Ancestral Birds, in relation to the birds we know today, to talk about those birds which were the earliest to evolve. The birds concerned belong to the group which ornithologists call the Non-Passerines. Although many of the ancestral birds are now extinct there is sufficient evidence available from fossils and DNA studies to present a picture of the way in which the Non-Passerines evolved.
